Celebs Play Poker For Charity

Celebrities lined up their chips Sept. 25 as they participated in a poker tournament held to raise charity funds.

Among the celebrities present in the poker event were Hollywood actor Hugh Grant, pop star Madonna and Singer Sting along with his wife Trudie Styler. Also present at the event were footballer Teddy Sheringham and Tom Parker Bowles, son of Camilla.

Players for the poker event had to pay the $10,000 entry fee a head to attend the exclusive private members' club Fifty located in St. James at Central London.

The fundraiser poker event was organized by environmentalist Zac Goldsmith, 31-year-old editor of the Ecologist Magazine, and Australian cricket star Shane Warne, who are both avid poker players.

Goldsmith is in the middle of a brewing controversy questioning his relationship with socialite Alice Rothschild. Rothschild helped to organize the poker charity night, and the two have been spotted spending long hours together in her flat, despite him being married to Sheherezade, with whom he has three children. The couple however, arrived at the event holding hands, and declined to comment on the issue.

The funds that will be pooled from the poker event will be donated to the Shane Warne Foundation, a charitable institution that works for children in need, along with another organization that distributes funds to environmental charities. A portion of the winnings from the poker night will also go to the two good causes.
