No-limit Multi-table Poker: The Choice of Amateurs

There is so much thrill and exhilaration in playing multi-table tournaments. With the famous World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker around, the multi-table tournaments became more interesting and gained more followers. Majority of players who are joining multi-table poker tourneys avoid no-limit games since the potential to lose is higher than playing in tournaments. And as a result, no-limit poker is rarely played outside of tournaments.

It's always a good idea to condition oneself that playing at a no-limit poker tournament is different from playing at regular live game. A player should always be aware of the difference between the two. In no-limit tourneys, bluffing should be done in moderation because there are so many players, and the chips that each payer has are quite smaller that the pot money. This means that winning is not that easy and bluffing can lead a player to losing. Always play by the rules as much as you can, and make sure that your chips are as equal as the other players in order to stay in the game. Pushing ones luck to the limit is not advisable; just gamble as little as you can.

If you made it to the middle of the tournament, changing your strategy is an appropriate move. You should concentrate and strategize on stealing the blinds. Having bad hands are the only way to steal the blinds and larger hands are a necessity when making the raise. In this round, players are just trying to survive with what they have in order to stay until the last round, so proper technique should be implemented accordingly.

Slow progression and patience are the factors in order to gain more chips. If you are the luckier type of player and your stack is substantial, then you have control over the game and you can raise and you can even make your moves on eliminating your opponents.

When the tournament is almost at its end, the blinds will eventually increase as well as the stacks. If you have a low stack of chips, try to wait for the pre-flop in order to have the opportunity to go all-in. On the other hand, if you have a large stack, you can play aggressively and be in control of the game in order to win.

If you're thinking of going all-in, go for a marginal hand. In this strategy, you may get just enough to keep you going for a while in the tourney. Don't be too harsh and too aggressive at this point; playing it gradually will surely pay off.
