Non-game Behaviors in Poker

Did you know that 80% success in a Poker depends heavily during the breaks that happens in-between games? Well, that's a fact that I didn't know about after many years of playing poker. Poker is all about lies and deceit, not only because that's the way it is, but it's the only game I know so far that requires us to do so. In fact, you can do all the lying and deceiving just as far as the games are concerned. You're not allowed to cheat, of course. Cheating is the easy, mindless way. Lying and deceiving although it sounds negative, requires much time, practice and study.

For instance, during a break between or after a game, your ploys should continue. You could behave in a way toward your non-game contacts to influence poker activities.

When meeting a friend of a player or opponent, you can display such behavior of optimism and not criticism. Try to praise the player/opponent through his friend and how good his performance was. Remember to stress his merits when you were playing.

Meeting a potential player can be influenced to play with you by stressing to him or her how easy it is to win the money in your poker activity. Besides appealing him with money, you can add some more spice by emphasizing on the nice social and pleasant atmosphere during the game.

When you meet a player from another game, behave as if you're interested to play in their game. You can subtly do this by inviting that player to join in your table instead. The reverse psychology often works especially when you ticked him off by showing that you and your buddies are commonly loose and sociable players.

When family or a relative of a player comes along, you can behave towards being impressed with the player. Try to flatter the player, not too obviously, to keep him off balance because the flattery is reinforced by the presence of his family. In case the player is losing and the family is already complaining (especially the wife), try to divert their attention by pointing at that luck was the reason for the loss and not the player's poor skills.

By meeting other acquaintances of the player, try to indicate a resounding desire to play poker or more of it. Don't mention about your personal performance and your winnings, talk about your losses and pretend that you enjoy the game solely because of its social nature.

If you're skilled at non-game behaviors, you can contrast this with your game behaviors to surprise opponents. Sometimes, you appear to be unfriendly during the game toward a certain player. But come break time, you become congenial to him. This confuses them on what you're behavior is really and this tactic has many advantages.
